Nuclear

The standard nuclear qualified accelerometers and dynamic pressure transducers are considered off-the-shelf components. These transducers, as well as conditioning electronics, can be delivered quickly depending on the production in course.

Vibro-Meter supplys many customized piezoelectric transducers with specific mounting adaptors. See sample drawing 144-602-650D101 for mounting of biaxial accelerometer CA 602 into steam generator tubes I.D. 13 mm. Other adaptors are available for different I. D. as well as for the other miniature biaxial accelerometer CA 606.

High pressure penetrations/feedthroughs are offered for primary and secondary circuits of nuclear reactors. The integral mineral insulated cable is brazed to a sleeve of O. D. 9 mm. x 40 mm. Other sizes are available.

Vibro-Meter has won the contract for the supply of more than 1,000 vacuum-tight electrical Feedthrough Assemblies for the Short Straight Section and DFB Cryostats of the LHC. The LHC is the Large Hadron Collider being constructed on the CERN site. CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research is an intergovernmental organization with 20 Member States. It has its own seat in Geneva (Switzerland).

Space

Launchers: The standard Ariane 5 qualified equipment are considered off-the-shelf components. The high temperature or cryogenic accelerometers and dynamic pressure transducers can be delivered quickly depending on the production in course.

Vibro-Meter supplies many customized displacement/position measuring system using the existing technology but with specific Eddy current sensors. We offer a full range of Eddy current sensors with specific mechanical interface. These systems can be flight qualified in a limited timeframe.

High pressure electrically fully floating feedthroughs are also offered. See our feedthrough drawings PZ 7392 and PZ 7501 depicted as hermetically sealed OEM components.

High Reliability Microgravity and Satellites: The initial requirement specification of the HRSPS included provisions for extended temperature of the sensors up to -150°C for a mission to Mars. Many applications for testbeds (but also for flight) will require that the sensors operate down to 30K.

The Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST) is one of the candidates requiring this kind of extended temperature range. Our experience with high pressure Eddy current systems operating at 20K on rocket engine turbopumps allows us to confirm the operation of the HRSPS at that temperature.
