ABE 055
Portable CMS - Rack Type

The Portable CMS is intended for use in industrial environments where the portability and ruggedness of the system are essential, and when a permanent installation is not required.

The system is based around an ABE 055 aluminium rack and a power supply. These are fully enclosed within an outer casing which offers protection from mechanical shocks. The rack can be used either horizontally or vertically. It accepts the standard data acquisition and processing cards (height 6U) used in Vibro-Meter’s well-established VM600 Series Condition Monitoring System (CMS). The front of the rack has space for two sets of VM600 data acquisition and signal processing card pairs (CMC 16 / IOC 16T), in slots 3 and 4, as well as a CPU M / IOC N card pair in slot 0. The cards can be configured from a PC connected to one of the Ethernet or RS232/RS485 serial connectors on the CPU M or IOC N.

The rack has a built-in VME backplane which ensures the electrical interconnection between the power supply, signal processing cards, acquisition cards, input/output cards and CPU M card.

CCM 524
Carrier Card Module

The CCM 524 is a carrier card module with space for a plug-in submodule such as a filter (LP, HP or BP, SNBF), rectifier (types SMVR, SRMS, or STPR) or voltage/current converter (type SVCC).

The CCM 524, when equipped with a suitable plug-in submodule, allows pre-processing of the signal coming from either an accelerometer or a dynamic pressure transducer. A typical example of use: in conjunction with a narrow band filter (SNBF 250) permit to reject the specific network mains frequency of 50 Hz.

MPC 1
Machinery Pulsation Card

The MPC 1 Machinery Pulsation Card is a central element in Vibro-Meter's VM 600 series Machinery Protection System. This very versatile card is capable of measuring and monitoring 1 dynamic signal input and 1 speed input simultaneously. A variety of speed sensors may be connected (e.g. systems based on proximity probes, magnetic pulse pick-up sensors, systems providing TTL signals). Fractional tacho ratios are supported. The dynamic signal input is fully programmable and can accept signals from piezoelectric dynamic pressure sensor. On-board multi-channel digital processing allows configuring up to 3 different broad band filters. Digital processing includes digital filtering (FIR), rectification (RMS, mean value, true peak or true peak-to-peak), the calibration may be expressed in metric or imperial units. Alert and Danger set points are fully programmable, as are alarm time delay, hysteresis and latching. The Alert and Danger levels can be adapted as a function of the speed or any external information. A digital output is available internally (on the IOC 4T card) for each alarm level. These alarm signals may be routed within the rack to drive change-over relays on an optional RLC 16 relay card. The processed dynamic signals and speed signals are available at the rear of the rack as analog output signals. Voltage-based (0-10 V) and current-based (4-20 mA) signals are provided. The MPC 1 performs a self-test and diagnostic routine on power-up. In addition, the card's built-in "OK System" continuously monitors the level of signals provided by the sensors and indicates any problem due to a broken transmission line, faulty transducer or conditioner. A LED indicator on the MPC 1 front panel indicates whether a processing or hardware error has occurred. Two additional LEDs (one per channel) indicate whether the OK System has detected a fault and whether an alarm has occurred on the channel.

CPU M
Central Processing Unit (CPU)

This is a modular CPU card intended for use in Vibro-Meter's VM600 series of racks. The CPU-M acts as a rack controller and communications gateway device for networked VM600 systems. The CPU M exemplifies the "one card does all" concept by combining into one card the functions previously performed by separate rack configuration, display interface, and communications modules. The obvious advantages offered by this approach are:

Intelligent front end data acquisition unit (DAU) for condition and performance monitoring; able to power sensors, perform all machinery monitoring functions (not suitable for protection), and take in performance and process data.
