Fire Detection
Omniguard® flame detector series
![]()
The value of early fire detection is immeasurable in protecting human life and valuable property. Meggitt's Omniguard® flame detectors are known throughout the world for their outstanding quality and reliability.
Meggitt’s Omniguard flame detectors are known throughout the world for outstanding quality and reliability in a wide variety of high-risk fire protection applications and extremely low false alarm rates. Field-proven performance and thousands of installed flame detectors make Meggitt the established leader in this industry.
Over 75 years of optical sensing expertise has allowed Meggitt to pioneer many new technologies, including both the first UV and the first UV/IR detectors. We continue to lead the industry with superior performance, features, and quality. Using UV or IR sensors, or a combination of both, we are able to sense and notify the user of various conditions and parameters of flame.
Discrimination between a true fire and a "false alarm" event is critical for efficient and cost-effective protection management. That is why Omniguard flame detectors are widely used in aircraft hangars, fuel transfer stations, natural gas compressor stations, and petrochemical storage facilities. Our Omniguard line of UV and UV/IR flame detectors are used to notify when a potentially dangerous fire (an "unfriendly fire") has started.
Features
- Explosion-proof construction certified for hazardous locations with FM, CSA, and ATEX approvals
- Field of view in the industry (120°)
- Robust aluminum or stainless steel NEMA 4X housing is weatherproof, dust-tight, watertight (IP66) and has been approved for indoor and outdoor use in hazardous areas
- Microprocessor controlled operation incorporating Meggitt’s patented fire event analysis algorithm to enable high speed response and superior false alarm immunity
- Advanced, built-in, automatic diagnostics not only monitor lens clarity, but also screen the electronic circuit function, proper calibration, and output relay continuity
- Enhanced detection range capability with user selectable sensitivity and time delay setting
- Easy and economical to install because the self-contained unit means no costly controller or no complicated wiring, just a 24 VDC power source and connection of the detector’s form C relays to a commercially available fire control panel
