Fuzz suppression systems

Fuzz suppression systemsWhile widely used, and very effective, the electric chip detector is subject to nuisance indications due to fine, non-failure-related debris. To combat this nuisance, we offer the most advanced "fuzz suppression" system available on today's market. Meggitt’s Auto-Fault® digital pulsed chip detector system discharges energy into the ECD gap and small non-failure-related debris is removed by the energy. When larger, failure-related particles are not removed, indicating the presence of significant debris, the pilot would get a chip light indication in the cockpit.

Meggitt’s Auto-Fault® system is unlike older, capacitor-based systems. The Auto-Fault® discharges a pre-determined number of closely controlled electrical pulses calibrated to clear a specific cross-section of particles. Some systems also interface with today's advanced health monitoring systems. The Auto-Fault® also uses a patented, built-in test circuit to test the electronic chip detectors as well as the aircraft wiring. Meggitt’s Auto-Fault® digital pulsed chip detector system has been selected for many of today's modern aircraft.
