FPGA Engineer

Vibro-Meter SA (Meggitt PLC Group) is a medium sized high tech company currently employing over 550 people at its headquarters in Fribourg (Switzerland). Our company is a world leader in the design and manufacture of high technology measurement systems for the aerospace and industrial markets. Our Electronics Engineering department is currently looking for an expert in FPGA Design.

The position:

You will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team focusing on electronics systems for the Energy markets. The product portfolio covers a vast range of demanding measurement applications and can be characterized by a high degree of sophistication, complexity and versatility, challenging your analytical skill and problem-solving capability. The high quality standards of our products further require a systematic and rigorous working methodology, and an accrued sense of responsibility.

As FPGA expert, you will participate in diverse development projects involving digital circuit design. In this new role, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

Contribution to analysis of customer requirements
Feasibility studies, including simulation and prototyping
Benchmarking, exploration of possible design options, device selection
Contribution to conceptual design of complete products
Detailed specification, design, implementation and validation of designs in VHDL
Maintenance and evolution of FPGA related engineering infrastructure and design flow
Technical management of engineering suppliers involved in FPGA aspects

Longer term, you will take full design ownership of the FPGA implementation across the Energy product lines.

While the position demands a high degree of autonomy and the ability to organise your work, you will be closely assisted and coached by the multidisciplinary development team throughout the introduction phase.

Your profile:

Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
A previous work experience in digital board design involving complex FPGA
Good general knowledge of digital electronics (DSP, Micro-Controllers, FPGA)
Mastership of tools for design entry, compilers, simulators, place & route
Actual design experience with Xilinx devices (e.g. Spartan, Virtex-5) is an asset
Experience with product certifications and functional safety aspects is an asset
Very good working level required in English, good knowledge of French and/or German is a strong asset
Pro-active and persevering personality, enjoying taking initiative, natural team player
